Revvin' the Engines

We're locking down the cast for The Blood Brothers Present...The Master of Horror and waiting for King's people to approve the press release, so once both of those things are confirmed, we'll be releasing both.

I'm heading off to Maine yet again for Labor Day weekend to attend my cousin Vance's wedding and returning just in time to start rehearsals for the pilot episode of Speed Demons, Nosedive's contribution to Vampire Cowboys' Saturday Night Saloon, which opens Saturday, September 6.

Speed Demons is my attempt to combine the 1960s Go-Go Road Trip movie with the Faustian tragedy. Or, to be more prosaic, it's about a greaser driving cross-country in his hot rod while the devil chases after him in his jalopy. It should be a fun time.

In addition to Speed Demons featuring Christopher Yustin, Leah Carrell and Daryl Lathon, as was the case with last year's serial, Pinkie, I'll be acting in this one as well. This time, however, I will not be the lead (to be blunt, I'm too damn old and chubby to be a hot young greaser, thank you very much).

Coming Soon - The Blood Brothers Present: The Master of Horror

Okay, so we've signed and sent the agreement for the rights, signed and sent the agreement for the space, and made our payments for both, so I'm now good and ready to tell you bitches what we're up to this fall.

Nosedive Productions will once present its annual Blood Brothers Present show. This year, it will be The Blood Brothers Present: The Master of Horror. Mac Rogers, Qui Nguyen and Yours Truly will be adapting short stories by none other than Mr. Stephen King.

Yup. Mr. King's people have given us the green light and we'll be doing an evening of King-adapted plays.

The Blood Brothers Present: The Master of Horror goes up for four weekends (Thursdays through Saturdays, October 9 through November 1) at the Gene Frankel Underground on 24 Bond Street (between Bowery and Lafayette). All shows will be at 7:30 p.m.

Considering Stephen King has been one of my favorite authors of all time (his books were the first - and for a while, only - that I would buy in hardcover as soon as they came out; I couldn't wait for the paperback editions and wouldn't check them out in a library), to say that I am right chuffed about this project is putting it mildly.

Anyway, it is freakin on. More details to come.

So Ready To Announce the Next Project...

...I can taste it.

But alas, we still need to square a few more things away. With a little luck and some elbow grease, we'll be able to finalize everything for the fall show before you know it.

Patience, young Padawaans, patience.

In the meantime, how's this for a slice of fried gold?

That mistake you made last night while drunk,

Fluency Review for

My review of Fluency is now up on

In Fluency, which is aptly billed as a "meta-theatrical romantic comedy," Jack and Olivia appear on a stage occupied with nothing more than a couple chairs and a few theatre cubes. They have no idea why they're there, but they... [keep reading]

Well, after spending a week staring off at the ocean, eating like a total pig and drinking a substantial amount of blueberry beer (well, okay, so it wasn't that much, all things considered), I'm back. And now I'll be spending the bulk of this week reviewing Fringe shows, the first of which I'm off to see tonight.

When I'm done with the reviewing, I'll be blathering about a bunch of upcoming Nosedive projects, including our participation in this year's Saturday Night Saloon with the Vampire Cowboys and this October's Blood Brothers Present show.

Away On Vacation

Not that I've been diligently posting entries on this site, but I'm off to Maine to bask in the sun and breath sea air and drink blueberry beer. I'll be back to vaguely blather about theatrical whatnots August 11, which is also the week I'll be reviewing the shit out of some Fringe shows.

Jesus, did I really sign up to review four plays the week I return?

Brilliant, Comtois, just brilliant.

Anyway, see you when I get back, my lovelies!

Easy...on the eyes,

James "Slutbag" Comtois
